FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions.
Straightforward answers to the questions owners most often ask about Dahava, how we work alongside your existing advisors, and what an engagement involves.
About Dahava
We already have an accountant. Why would we need Dahava?
Your accountant or bookkeeper may maintain your records, prepare financial statements, and handle compliance requirements.
Dahava focuses specifically on management reporting, financial performance analysis, forecasting, and helping you interpret financial information to support business decisions. The services can work together, and we're glad to coordinate with your accountant.
How is Dahava different from a bookkeeping service?
Bookkeeping focuses primarily on maintaining accurate records of financial transactions.
Dahava specializes in using financial and operational information to develop management reporting, analyze business performance, and provide decision-support insights. In short: accounting records what happened; Dahava helps you understand why it happened, what it means, and what decisions may follow.
What types of businesses does Dahava serve?
Dahava focuses on privately owned businesses, including construction contractors, real estate owners, service providers, distributors, and multi-location operations. See Industries for how our reporting applies to each.
Systems and Information
Does Dahava replace our accounting software?
Not necessarily. Dahava can work with financial information from existing accounting systems and other authorized sources.
The objective is to improve the usefulness of the information you already maintain, without requiring unnecessary changes to established systems.
Do we need a sophisticated accounting system?
Not necessarily. Many smaller businesses operate with combinations of accounting software, spreadsheets, and operational records.
Dahava can evaluate available information and determine what reporting can reasonably be developed from those sources.
How is our financial information handled?
We ask only for the information an engagement requires, and we agree with you at the outset how it will be shared. Please don't send financial statements, account details, or system logins through the website contact form. Our privacy policy describes how information submitted through this website is used.
Engagements
What types of reports can we receive?
Depending on the engagement, reporting may include financial statements, profitability analysis, performance dashboards, cash flow projections, budgets, variance reports, and industry-specific management analyses. See an illustrative sample.
How are fees determined?
Fees depend on the scope of the engagement: the reporting required, the complexity of your operations and records, and the level of advisory support. We discuss scope and fees after an introductory consultation, so any proposal reflects your actual needs.
How do we get started?
Begin with an introductory consultation to discuss your business, existing financial information, reporting needs, and potential scope of services. Request a consultation or call (323) 628-1986.
